The Difference Between Grave Markers and Headstones

Have you been looking for a way to commemorate your deceased loved one? If so, chances are there are a lot of read blogs that use the terms "tombstone" and "tombstone" interchangeably. In reality, however, these phrases refer to two completely different types of monuments.

Headstones are flat monuments that sit low to the ground. They usually contain the person's name, date of birth, and date of death. They are usually made of granite, concrete, bronze, or limestone.

Headstones are monuments that stand erect at a person's burial site. They are much bigger than tombstones. In most cases, they are at least three to four feet tall. Due to their large size, they often feature artwork and quotes in addition to the deceased's name, date of birth, and date of death.

Unsurprisingly, the extra size comes at a cost.

However, before purchasing either option, it's important to check with your cemetery to find out what types of memorials they allow. You don't want to accidentally buy the wrong one!
